Pete Lasko learns what it feels like to be punched in the face.

Should have called them burnouts.

Now that I have a blog, I wanted to take the opportunity to say that there is nothing warm about this thing we call “warmups.” Imagine walking into a reasonably large room (big enough to run circles around without getting dizzy) run around a few times (again, not getting dizzy), and then having to do 20-25 minutes of hard interval-intensity work including, but not limited to: shadow boxing, jumping jacks, jumping rope, ground and pound (which is as rad as it sounds), slapping others (see Pancrase*), and several other things which I have certainly suppressed from memory.

In the Endurance Athletics world, you would only reach that type of heart rate zonage one or two times per week–the rest of our time being spent shaving our legs, and applying for new credit cards so we can upgrade our wheels.

The idea being, anyone can throw a good punch when he’s fresh and warmed up with some light stretching, and easy shadowboxing. But no one cares about that when you get into it with a bunch of skinheads because they don’t like your eyeshadow.

Anyway, more to come. Krav is rad, everyone should try it.

*okay, its not like that, we just do light shoulder/knees tagging
